Female Athletes

Lifting days and times will be determined through the Head Coaches and coordinated with Coach Keefe/Coach Howard.

Strength training, which involves lifting weights and a variety of resistance methods to improve athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury, is an essential component of athletic development and overall physical wellness. Year-round conditioning programs at Northwood Academy include in-season and out-of-season training modules for student-athletes in grades 6th through 12th.

Athletic development and safety is our top priority. Our strength training program places heavy concentration on plyometrics (speed training) and ground-based free weight lifting. Combined, three areas of lifting are emphasized: explosive movements, combo lifting (using multiple muscle groups), and core strength development.

Note: 6th and 7th grade training program focus heavily on speed and agility training. Additionally, great emphasis is placed on safety and proper technique development with dumbbells and universal weight systems.
