Northwood Academy Lower School is a wonderful place for young learners. Our students acquire a love of learning through an engaging, experiential and challenging curriculum in a nurturing environment. Experiencing God’s love from Christian teachers, developing social skills through interaction with their peers, and reinforcing academic skills, lead to well-rounded independent students, ready to embrace the challenges of school.
The foundation of our college preparatory program includes traditional reinforcement, practice, and application of math skills and concepts, phonetic language arts, Biblical instruction, and a Christian worldview approach to science and social studies. It is enhanced with weekly Spanish, art, music, physical education, media center/library, and chapel. Students also enjoy cross-curricular instruction through fun-themed days throughout the year.
The teachers in kindergarten through 5th grade are highly qualified, participate in ongoing professional development, embrace a Christian worldview, discipline as they instruct and equip students to reach their God-given potential.
Lower School students “graduating” from 5th grade heading to middle school are ready to navigate the Upper School with confidence, knowing that they are on the right track to becoming the unique individual God created them to be.
